As a comparison between two of the world's finest medieval museum I often remember each museum's collection Paris and New York and the lasting impression each location and collection leaves on the fortunate visitor years in his future as the money to travel at will leaves him for old age's poor health and lack of monies to travel.

The Sorbonne medieval museum is magnificent but is forced into competing with dozens of world class art museums in Paris as well as the spell Paris itself permanently blesses on the tourist. After a few days of visiting the sites of Paris with plenty of money to see the city and museums as well as a world class hotel to stay in for a few days Paris generates a smile for future years.

New York's jewel is the cloisters blessed by John D. Rockefeller who spent some of his world class Fortune to pick out a location on the Hudson River and spent money as no object to buy the medieval art and statues as well as the buildings to house the location, collections and ambiance of antiquity. Room after room will set the mood for visitors of the museum to go into the past of Europe to display the art in a serene and authentic environment. There is a serenity to the Cloister's rooms of fine art that slows guests down during their New York city visit.

Stand out behind the Cloisters and watch the Hudson River race by. American Indians used the Hudson to move about their country. Now the sub way from New York city or taxi from Harlem zips you to the Cloisters,

Visit the cloisters after you visit the metropolitan museum in downtown New York. The Cloisters are my favorite location in America.

edward pritchardhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17738734136928092517noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1748755655566010474.post-57551519860365422852023-11-20T12:51:00.000-08:002023-11-20T12:51:42.784-08:00sometimes I wish I were born Russian [part 2]sometimes I wish I were born Russian [ part 2]
A dozen years into the future from now there's these robots who are very intelligent and conniving and created by the Russian government to intervene with American society, politics, and institutions in a non violent but intrusive way.

Each robot looks and acts like a famous Russian writer or novelist and has one dictate from home in Moscow on how to behave in America, " stay in character comrade".

Pictures below are the robotic representations of Gorky and Tolstoy working hard to stay in character.
Starting in twenty five years from the present. The money would be used appropriately to help the downtrodden. For a twenty five year period the tax would not start provided the catholic church and other churches went back and re reviewed their position on each religious schism or scriptual controversy they fought and or murdred people over, that is those who they intellectually diagreed with. In addition all religious organizations in the USA must publically forgive John Rawls for his positions on all matters they disagreed with him overs by admitting that in matters of opinion both sides are partially right and wrong at the same time.

edward pritchardhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17738734136928092517noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1748755655566010474.post-19294087018261311242023-02-17T20:43:00.000-08:002023-02-17T20:43:36.591-08:00seventy first birthday
seventy first birthday

fiction

edward w pritchard

About ten years ago a noted local heart surgeon told my family gathered in my room at the hospital after a heart procedure and a heart attack that I probably wouldn't make it till morning. Somehow I have survived nearly ten years and I credit my still being alive along with various pills daily to listening to blues music, three cans a night of beer and a proper outlook on the world., and walking around the world more than three times on the canal paths in the local area where I live.

Bessie Smith, Elmore James and Snooks Eaglin are my only friends anymore. Several times a week I converse with them as I listen to their philosophical thoughts expressed through music.

As you get older there is less to fret about. As an example in my case I don't care if I have a 4,000 square house properly remodeled and filled with more expensive furniture than I can sit on.

Most days I hope for a clear night to watch the evening sky, planets and stars as I walk and walk along the lake walking and walking to keep myself alive. That's about it really. Excuse me it's time for me to go back to reading a few high brow books on various subjects, joyfully interacting with the grandchildren, and spending many hours at the gym trying to extend my time as a sentient being.

Someone said " Life has no meaning , only the beauty of it's intricate design".

edward pritchardhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17738734136928092517noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1748755655566010474.post-30415052140174453292023-02-12T05:47:00.001-08:002023-02-12T05:47:35.409-08:00what ever else they said about Jesus
whatever else they said about Jesus

fiction

edward w pritchard

Whatever else they said about Jesus, Jesus never sent important information to his twelve disciples by email.

Jesus never had twelve way phone conversations either. I said that because I just can't stand to hear about good old Jesus, who may not of even have been real suffering through a short life like they said and ending up -for real on a cross and then dying and that was so final. So I made up that part about Jesus and James Booker both having been reborn and coming back to life. Both of them and us too are just so lonely,

I can understand why folks would exaggerate a bit that about there's a better life a coming after we die. It's just for me I wish it were real in a proven scientific sense. So I won't say anything about was Jesus for real and all. And if I have to believe anything scientific provable about James Booker, I believe he did walk around sometimes when he was down and out looking for marijauna cigarettes on the ground like he earlier would sing at the piano when he played " King of the road." It's a provable scientific fact, us being so lonely and all believing in a fine afterlife sometimes at 3 am in the morning.

edward pritchardhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17738734136928092517noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1748755655566010474.post-66468054097809984742023-02-10T18:15:00.004-08:002023-02-10T18:18:07.325-08:00James Booker New Orleans piano man came to the earth at his second birth as a stand in for Jesus
James Booker New Orleans piano man came to the earth at his second birth as a second stand in for Jesus

fiction

edward w pritchard

Why would Jesus return to the earth for the second time as James Booker, the New Orleans piano prodigy? But to this day I can vividly remember the slave auction house there on tenth street in Wheeling Wv [ then called Wheeling Virginia] one rainy Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the afternoon back in 1859. My Mother's great grand Mother rode in a wagon by the large auction house building as a little girl and her Mother ordered her to close her eyes so she couldn't see
the chained slaves waiting to be taken to be sold.

Of course my Mother's relatives were too poor to own slaves but by circumstances they found themselves in a slave owning country and state.

To this day I recall my Mother's great grandmother thinking as she peeked at the chained slaves back in 1859 that they were only five minutes from freedom. Up over the roof of the slave auction building on tenth street in Wheeling Wv and ten miles North across the River to Martin's Ferry Ohio and a colored person could be free.

Today I live in Ohio, north of the Ohio River about ten miles south of some all black neighborhoods. The fact that we had slavery in the United States saddens me. If I had lived back in civil war times I suppose I might have been killed as a soldier fighting in an Ohio regiment. Many people in America sacrificed to end slavery in the past of our Country's history. Me, today I enjoy black blues music; scrapper blackwell, tampa red, lead belly, elmore james, muddy waters and many others. The music is the memory of the suffering of the past.

edward pritchardhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17738734136928092517noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1748755655566010474.post-56939062725464862892022-05-18T13:47:00.000-07:002022-05-18T13:47:42.038-07:00be glad you are poor
be glad your poor

fiction

edward w pritchard

Be glad you are poor. In my case I sit in a very small space capsule traveling very fast at the edge of the solar system and transmit the stock market action across the universe as far as humans have settled to investors millions and millions of miles from home. What I do is routine but of great importance because I am the last link in the mother economy stretching from earth to the next galaxy. Still sometimes I get exasperated being involved with persons obsessed so much with money and I sometimes get in trouble for the sarcasm that I sneak into my financial reports

As example during the worse crash in the stock indexes in twenty years I began to sing during my broadcast the Kinks song " celluloid heroes" between my commentary on the DJ Industrial 11% fall this morning.

I remember myself singing " everybody's a dreamer, everybody's a star, and everybody's in movies, it doesn't matter where you are". I like to think that the writer of the song Ray Davies of the Kinks would smile if he could hear me now. Of course broadcasts traveling back to earth on financial matters are forbidden for a 30 day period as everyone knows. So it will take about five weeks for my boss to reprimand me for my disobedience.

edward pritchardhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17738734136928092517noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1748755655566010474.post-6977756125699235752022-05-09T18:47:00.000-07:002022-05-09T18:47:11.442-07:00wall street may 09, 2022
wall street may 09, 2022

fiction

edward w pritchard

Another debacle on Wall Street today. Often[ twice] the person was a pretty bar maid stuck in a cage of a job restraining their true personality. Of course she was pretty. Should I speak out?

The environment is always dark for them, melancholy music always on the jute box and two hundred twenty four men a month routinely bores them with their pick up lines and life stories. The tips are good.

Should I speak out and offer her my be true to thy self lecture covering Buddhism, Greek philosophy, and Lucretius.

I note I am too old to get to know them these days.
edward pritchardhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17738734136928092517noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1748755655566010474.post-72719808142440688972022-04-24T03:33:00.003-07:002022-04-24T03:33:45.524-07:00first hour movement of Sun across morning sky
First hour movement of Sun across morning sky

fiction

edward w pritchard

Author has invited deceased author F. Various processes of the universe cause a hundred sounds each early morning as this daily process unfolds and it is a privilege to have a few more years to enjoy this event.

Half way through the morning ritual as the Light brightens chirping birds quiet down temporarily busy with their work. Elon how could god have given one person that much money and the power to control events with a few glib utterances?

Mr. Musk please use your influence to pause the war in Ukraine. There is a picture from WW2 shot in London the morning after Nazi bombing of a little boy about 7 holding his stuffed animal amid the rubble of his street being destroyed by last night raids. Similar things are happening now in the Ukraine to children.

Elon use your influence to pause the war in Ukraine.
edward pritchardhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17738734136928092517noreply@blogger.com0
