politics by the book

politics by the book

fiction
edward w pritchard

Today our country gets a new speaker of the house and it's good to see that we practice politics by the book.

The current headline is Paul Ryan new speaker of the House never wanted the job. Ambitious people again in action.

It's good to see that our leaders have learned their History.

Didn't the Roman  emperors always refuse the Ceasear-ship the first two or three times the soldiers implored them to accept and straighten out the mess the Country was in?

the invisible minority

the invisible minority

fiction
edward w pritchard

Thanksgiving is a spiritual holiday for Americans and here's hoping this thanksgiving many homecomings occur with members of the invisible minority, Americans in Prisons, returning to their homes and Families.

Imagine the pains of separation to have a loved one in Prison.

Here's what I wrote before on reunions of this sort, based on the bible.

lost sheep

lost sheep

fiction
edward w pritchard

You must put yourself where the lost sheep likely be to find it. Journey far looking for the lost sheep.

Oh what joy when that sheep is found. No place so blessed as where the lost sheep lies. Hoist the sheep on your shoulders if you can and carry it back to the place of safety. Rejoice, rejoice, the lost sheep is back. The flock is whole. The Shepherd rests easily tonight.

disruptive students in the classroom

disruptive students in the classroom

fiction
edward w pritchard

Author is constantly vigilant of the possibility of our Country deteriorating into a police state in the name of law and order. Likewise author has witnessed first hand overly aggressive behavior by individual police and security officers toward the weak in Society.

However, in the School classroom, it is imperative that extreme disruptive behavior by emotionally charged students not be allowed to disrupt normal routines of classroom learning. One disruptive student can ruin the learning environment for an entire hallway at our schools for days at a time. In such situations order must be maintained by those in authority.

Perhaps the Parents of such disruptive students bear some responsibility and should be punished or reprimanded by the System. A fair hearing being first occurred.

Often in author's experience it is a kind but misguided attempt to mainstream struggling students who are temporarily unable to follow a regimen in a classroom who cause much of the problems of disruption in the classroom.

In this situation greatest good for the greatest number for the most part is proper policy for the School system to follow.

Sometimes old ways are better; charging interest is a sin. Too many complications result to the detriment of society by the conniving[s] of ambitious sorts looking to rise at the expense of their neighbors.

Step back and contemplate on the matter anew. How many social evils spin forth from the charging of interest and the worship of an expanding money supply?

fox sports

fox sports

fiction
edward w pritchard

A million Chicago Cubs baseball fans desperately want tickets for the Home baseball playoff games and possible World Series at Home in Chicago.

So how does Major League Baseball follow up on the excitement of the long suffering Cub's fan's enthusiastic October antics? MLB allows Fox Sports to deny access to most of the playoff games unless a household pays for the Fox 1 sports package.

Pay to watch baseball on TV. It's un-American to fans of my generation.

Like trying to reconcile belligerent opinions between the North and the South on the true causes for the American Civil War, modern baseball fans must choose their position this October not on who will win the World series but on is it fair to have limited free baseball playoff games on National television. Is free TV a right or a privilege?

It's a generational thing, us old guys who are the loyal baseball fans the MLB owners should want to please for the sake of their advertisers are being forced to boycott the sport they love because of the greedy behavior of the folks at Fox sports.

MLB, you better get your act together. Maybe the Lady was right, watching baseball in October is just a waste of time.

miss me when I am gone

miss me when I am gone

fiction
edward w pritchard

The only reliable indicator of affection is if you are missed when you are gone. As in are various ploys and stalls devised to detain you when you are about to go or move on. Perhaps you are warned of increment approaching weather, or danger from marauding armies, or possible imminent losses in the pending business deals that had motivated you to be on your way.

When such tactics are initiated to control your comings and goings by your dear one- parting is so much the sweeter- and the next arrival is so much to be anticipated.

However at some point aging steals your beauty and desirability and there is no one to miss you when not around. At that point try the checkout girl at the local convenience store,- she is always a captive audience to your fantasies and secret affections;- even if she is usually visibly annoyed by your appearance and continued existence.

Pick an attractive young thing to haunt. One who is of the same sub genre of species of beautiful dolls who came before her in your admiration and affection will do. Perhaps one with an icy stare if you are so inclined, - Or a formal and aloof presentation if that's your predilection.

Then stop by early each morning to circle the busy store where she is a waitress of the cash register going about her prescribed duties. Stare into her lovely eyes and pay with a hundred dollar bill.- For a few moments you are in ecstasy.

If she flirts with the young truck delivery drivers ahead of you that's part of the spice of amour.

If she not working today? -How you will miss the lass when she is gone.- It gives you something to dwell on until tomorrow.

The only true indicator of affection is if one is missed when they are gone.

straining to raise a family

straining to raise a family

fiction
edward w pritchard

For those of you straining and struggling to raise a family, hearken not to disheartening thoughts and sentiments. Time is quickly flying by and soon you will be alone. Enjoy the moment, relish the joy and sorrow of everyday things.

Crammed four to a seat in the rear of a rusting station wagon it's difficult to see any purpose to existence.

Looking back from afar you surmise that "your sorrows are your joys" [1]. Enjoy the moment. Tempus fugat.

a premonition of what is to come

a premonition of what is to come

fiction
edward w pritchard

That certain craziness that is passed to the oldest son through the Mother, a premonition of what is to come in the lives of individuals observed briefly from a distance is the writers curse.

Rather than join and enjoy everyday things such individuals stand back seeing too much, secret voyeuristic observations of the faults of character that keeps everyone a stranger, and no-one  a Saint.

Alone, always alone trying to subset infinite possibilities of chance and circumstance on the lives of others into a few paragraphs of turbid description. Casting a thousand predictions into twenty five mile drift nets to seine one or two related character flaws into the universal story.

There is no meaning. Beauty is a learned response to dripping syrupy colors of experience jailed deep in the Mind into stale categorical imperatives.

Leave the disinherited, the disconcerted, the lonely, the unhappy in their unique misery. Only the face matters but it does not mirror the soul. [1]

Forget the dreams of last night. They bore me this morning. With a clean slate have nothing to say, nothing to see and nothing to categorize.

Hillary Clinton; Mrs President, /part 4 whistle blowing against the Banking Industry

Hillary Clinton; Mrs. President, /part 4 whistle blowing against the Banking Industry
fiction
edward w pritchard

Author once chased around the hallowed halls of one of America's too big to fail sacred New York Banks for a short distance and at a small time level observed the hypocrisy, deceitfulness and arrogance " practiced" day to day and quarter to quarter under business as usual against the Public and for the malicious corporate insiders individual interests.

How will justice be served and the public interest be upheld when a cadre of well placed lawyers and judges diligently use the sacred common laws of commerce and precedent within the Banking Industry to spy upon and maintain secret malicious files against their customers, stockholders, public officials and critics?

Be assured Mrs. President that the New York banking insiders are currently secretly maintaining Gestapo style files against you, yourself, should you officially become the Country's first female President and  attempt to Judge the Banking industry in the common interest and uphold them to standards of common decency in some future monetary nightmare.

Support whistle blowing laws against Banks that are too big too fail by forcing Big banks and their cadres of stooge boosters such as Paul-son and associates et al of Wall Street to be held to the same performance standards of everyday prudent conduct and fiduciary responsibility that the Banking industry's lawyers and Judge's use to silence their whistle blowing employees and critics when defending themselves in court. Tit for tat and quid pro quo.

Big banks have no conscious, no heart and no soul. The only way to affect them is to make them pay
and the only way to battle them in the fight for justice is to set the ground rules in advance before the Wall street banks have their backs to the wall over the latest financial crisis de jure.

To Hillary Clinton; Mrs President/part 3, attack the real issue

To Hillary Clinton; Mrs President/part 3, attack the real issue

fiction
edward w pritchard

Madame President, so often well intentioned Government programs do not attack the real problem at hand. The reasons are varied.

As an example prison reform. What is the best way to improve the happiness of unfortunate prisoners while they are incarcerated. It's to send willing women in for conjugal visits.

Here in my Home town of Akron, Ohio what do we most need to improve the general level of happiness? No it's not to outlaw begging at the side of expressway entrances.

What we need most here in Akron, Ohio is a really cool bridge across the Ohio Canal like the bridge of sighs in Venice Italy or a bridge like the Ponte Vecchio in Florence. If we had such a bridge the general happiness would be raised and the citizens would be more self confident and industrious leading our area to a new re-burst of creativity and artistic accomplishment.

To Hillary Clinton; Mrs President, / part 2, re sustainability

To Hillary Clinton; Mrs President, / part 2, re sustainability

fiction
edward w pritchard

With fears abounding about global warming and individuals causing an overly large footprint on the environment perhaps we can use pro-active forms of a negative income tax or lump sum payments to help the environment, alleviate some of the carbon footprint left by citizens, and make people happy in a sustainable lifestyle that is healthy and wholesome.

We are talking here about encouraging citizens to adopt a nomadic lifestyle to follow reindeer or herds of buffalo and to use the animals to provide the majority of the groups food, shelter and clothing.

Government fiscal policy could be used to initially to recruit persons to join the new lifestyle.

Perhaps citizens of Alaska or Native Americans on reservations would best initially respond to the new program.

Once successful and if a large enough number of persons were following the nomadic lifestyle a sustainable enjoyable wholesome life style might be available to all Americans who wished to travel and make smaller their carbon footprint upon the Earth.

"The" Dow crosses it's 50 day moving average

"The" Dow crosses it's 50 day moving average

fiction
edward w pritchard

Where is it going to? "The" Dow crosses it's 50 day moving average. But where is it going next?

For a clue look at the Hang Seng. [ China]. Hey dude it's more or less the same chart. What's up with that? Type now DJI compare to HSI.

Why it's a small world. But wait a minute.

Are the Chinese and the Americans of a similar temperament when it comes to looking at the world?

Odd, compare DJI to HSI; it's the same chart. Who is running things anyway? and Where are they taking us?

Until now I liked the fact that at least the Chinese weren't bombing the Syrians. [see previous post].

Sad;
I see China will team up with the Russian coalition to bomb in Syria. I wonder if it's [ the creation of a new China Russia bombing team] is reflected in the Dow, coincidentally which had a good day on the news?

And I had hoped that China had a Buddhist heart under that practical face it showed to the World.

stop the bombing raids

stop the bombing raids

fiction
edward w pritchard

Is it yesterday or tomorrow today over there in Syria?

It's a new day and its time for a lot of bombing crews from a lot of countries to drop bombs on the Syrian people. It's absurd but absurdity doesn't scatter sharp pieces of metal into children's legs.

Stop the aerial bombing raids over Syria today.

Here's what I wrote before on poor Syria, ancient nation, modern tragedy.

Wake softly Syria

Wake softly Syria

fiction
edward w pritchard

Wake softly Syria,
the sun has risen bringing morning breezes to soothe your sorrows.

Look to the horizon Damascus ancient Mother city.
Streaks of gold light entice you, awake; stir again Mother Damascus arouse your children
to productive activity.

Up and about to the souk hearty Aleppo.
Send men to trade and build.
Daylight is upon us Halab, greet foreign traders in the marketplaces.

Whisper in Aramaic humble Ma'aloula, tell the nations what comes next.

Joy and create sleepy Ras Shamrah, out to Ugarit to remind the world who taught them to write.

Awake sleeping Syria, ancient land. Your friends far away bid you reclaim your destiny.

Wake softly Syria.

Donald Trump woos Hillary; credit score blues part 3

Donald Trump woos Hillary; credit score blues part 3

fiction
edward w pritchard

I read another ridiculous article on yahoo finance that the Federal Reserve was using tax payer funds to investigate and then concluded that couple's had better long term relationships if they started with  higher credit scores. More Charles Murray thinking [ "the Bell Curve", " Coming Apart "].

Here I thought good marriages had something to do with both being of similar religious backgrounds and beliefs and one being willing to stay home and take care of the children when necessary.

Well here's a brief couple of sentences on a Trump/ Clinton Presidential ticket and then my original "Credit score blues" the story where if you have a bad credit score you are marked for annihilation by a bounty being placed on your head as your death would help the economy and common good of society.
start

Donald Trump woos Hillary; Can American have two Presidents at once in the White House?

What if Donald Trump decided the best way for him to get ahead in Life and become President was if he decided to have Hillary be co-president? Would Hillary Clinton be able to give up some of her self and her future fame and prestige for the Good of the Country? What kind of gifts do you buy a woman who would be President to woo her? How about a South American County?
end part 1

Here's what I wrote before on America's crazy obsession with credit scores:

Credit Score Blues

Credit Score Blues

fiction
edward w pritchard

I got my credit score in the mail today. Because of two years without lowering my credit card balance they put me on the blue list. Thanks from Sioux City, SD it began.

News travels quickly and my front door, with the broken lock, had my score 517 in large red letters scrawled across the middle. The reds are the more radical faction of the blue movement and are the hands on group and are the ones who perform the actual annihilation of the undesirables and it looks like I am now one.

A Tennessee based insurance company called today also. They want to send me hourly updates of changes in my credit score by e-mail for at least the next ten days guaranteed or until my death which ever comes first; in exchange for me assigning my $255 death benefit from social security to them. The changes in the score is important because the bounty paid by the New York banks is based on groups of ten individuals cumulative scores, in a bundle. It's said that any credit score ending in an odd number is lucky, and a very good thing because the computers picking the individuals for liquidation 70% of the time will pick an even number ending credit score. However, to me that's just numerology not numeracy. The blues follow some of the original bundling in choosing victims but the reds they kill for sport and you can't dodge them once your number is posted.

I took all my change over to the grocery store and got $67 from the coin counting machine after the 9% fee and am going to do some of my favorite things until they come for me. Maybe I will go to the Art Museum one more time and I might splurge and have some of the Ahi tuna from Wall Mart. It's my favorite. While at Wall Mart I have to buy a bottle of imported Chinese beer. I'll pay cash of course for I have been trying to keep my credit card balance in a reasonable range. We must be responsible with our spending if we are going to have any kind of a future.

Hillary Clinton JD

Hillary Clinton JD

fiction
edward w pritchard

I wanted to warn future Congress and The Senate that when Hillary Clinton gets elected not to put her on cross, that is cross examination over her past dealings. Not because she is the new President, or a strong woman but because she has a Doctor of the Laws degree from Yale.

From experience some of us know that a woman lawyer likes to ask the questions and when it comes her turn to be under cross examination they have a short memory and often although they have no independent recollection of the events under discussion if they do recall anything they recall that nothing like that ever really happen, ipso facto.

Still women lawyers, don't we just Love them anyway.

fly by night

fly by night

fiction
edward w pritchard

To pay down my student loans I have taken two main strategies.

The first is to be voluntarily incarcerated here in the local County jail which under the new law enacted by new first woman President Hillary Clinton erases $100 dollars a day from my composite student loan debt. It adds up. In three years of voluntary incarceration I could have most of my $125,000 for my restaurant management degree paid off at this rate. That is if interest rates aren't raised again.

I am in a hurry to get out of jail though, let's just say I don't like living with other men. So I have taken Mrs. Clinton's second option under her new programs to pay off student loan debt by us unfortunates who are having trouble getting a job in their field and I am working  9pm to 6am as a debt collector here at the jail. I call delinquent borrowers on their student loan payments and dun them every few days to stand up to their obligations and promises and pay their student loan payment this week. Now a student loan can be paid weekly, daily or even hourly to save on interest on interest, on fees, and on penalties.

There is a certain symmetry to Mrs. Clinton's new ideas on how to help us unfortunates pay down our accrued student loan debt with innovative programs. Some of us didn't quite understand what we were getting into and I believe it took getting the first woman President elected to have the compassion to understand our problem. Most Americans think if something couldn't happen to them then it is a problem that doesn't really exist. Like normal Americans looking back on American history and not wanting to think about the Native Americans having their land taken by force and legalese or slavery for other unfortunates.

Student loans are a lot like slavery what with interest rates going up weekly anymore for reasons most of us debtors don't really understand. Maybe I should have studied finance in school instead of my two year restaurant management degree.

It 's hard being a student loan debt collector on an automatic dialer from 9pm to 6am. It's good there is a bathroom here in my cell so I can go anytime unlike collectors in the private sector who only can leave their desk once every three hours.

Am I unhappy with my lot in life at this time?

I'll be out of this nightmare of voluntary incarceration and working all night as a debt collector of others in student loan purgatory in about another 14 months, so I guess I am just resigned and coping.

I am grateful to Mrs. Clinton for having the compassion to help people like me with new ideas and programs. I don't in anyway feel that being in deep student loan debt is like being a slave or anything like that. Still sometimes at night when I am looking over my student loan debt lists to see if I have to call myself to remind me to make this weeks payment I get a little down.

When I am down I remember that old song  "some sweet morning I'll fly away" and I lay down my headset for a minute and imagine flying beyond these prison walls to freedom.

But that kind of thinking won't get me out of my student loan debt. I am just happy to have the opportunity to try these new innovative programs to restart my life.
