wake softly
fiction
Edward w Pritchard
Sleep hard and wake softly.
I'll watch silently from afar
to insure you get home safely
across three thousand years in private.
I'll whistle in the dark alone,
walk down the hillsides of your dreams,
smile at your triumphs,
and kiss your hand once each century when you start your day.
