my bread and circuses

my bread and circuses

In the spring an old man's fancy turns to baseball. This year my team the local Cleveland native American [ I have renamed them to honor our Country's founders] have traded away a lot of their
guys but kept the same coach. I enjoy major league baseball but note to cable and local net works not enough to pay to watch it.

My tastes in sport has changed as I aged. I don't watch much  basketball on TV, no golf, soccer or tennis and the NFL is too political although I do enjoy the violence of football. As an aside no reality TV, never not once, no political commentary ad incessantly and what happen to cable, it's all extended commercials.

My bread and circuses tends to voyeurism, great art, or vintage mild porn, ie 1840's dance hall singers naughty but intellectual, wearing glasses in costume and character stopping by to wish me happy birthday or surprising myself I have become fascinated these days with the looks of women my own age-it must be the hidden cause and effect of the invisible workings of evolution acting on the environment to nurture the continuation of the species or maybe just personal growth.

Spring is a time of renewal for me. Ride the bike far and uphill, hike, plan to camp with the grandson, fish a little with guys, and take a train anywhere that has a great art museum at the end of the run.

Happy birthday to me. If I knew I would live this long I would have taken better care of myself, been more industrious when I was young and saved some money like I hear some other people do. Like one of my favorite's Peggy Lee said in a song" you got to do right like some other men do".
