As Melvin's love for Kasie grows Milly the female super computer develops emotions of passion and realizes her love for Melvin and in the rage of her developing jealousy plans revenge against Melvin by obsessively plotting the deaths of Gabby, Craybo and Kasie. Milly although she once loved Melvin passionately does not want to kill him but wants to see him suffer since she now hates him as much as she once loved him.

Milly the super computer emerges as the archetypal disadvantaged woman in a male dominated society. Although Melvin attempts to remake her, and thinks he understands her as a woman super computer , Milly is alien to Melvin in reality and he cannot understand her and Melvin turns to Kasie the traditional beauty and traditional feminine stereotype, the male fantasy buxom blond beauty.

Kasie quickly becomes disillusioned with "Dr." Melvin who wishes to have her but refuses to abandon Milly the intellectual who he has created.

The story of Dr. Melvin begins with Gabby's sharing with Dr. Melvin [as an 18 year old Doctor Melvin secretly mock's Gabby's accomplishments]her creation of the super computer Milly who was created from the spare parts of her Father, Craybo who represents traditional paternalistic male society and values. Although Craybo appears to be evolving himself,with Gabby's help, Craybo is really becoming the traditional patriarch. Gabby cannot allow Milly to harm Craybo and clings to the past he represents, secretly craving artificial intelligence to evolve along traditional male lines. Kasie is an alter ego of Gabby. Kasie fits in and is comfortable with her sexuality and once she has a normal fling with Dr. Melvin she is ready to move on. She is whole and complete even reconciling with Milly.

Neither Gabby, Craybo or Dr. Melvin really die in the story. There lives will continue to their conclusions but they will develop no further. Only Milly the super computer and Kasie have a chance for growth and as the story ends their fate is unknown but they face the future confidently.
