Thoughts on New York's The Cloisters

Thoughts on New York's the Cloisters

fiction

Edward w Pritchard

Before I  first visited the Cloisters in New York city I was fortunate enough to visit the Sorbonne medieval museum in Paris, France . As a comparison between two of the world's finest medieval museum I often remember each museum's collection Paris and New York and the lasting impression each location and collection leaves on the fortunate visitor years in his future as the money to travel at will leaves him for old age's poor health and lack of monies to travel.

The Sorbonne medieval museum is magnificent but is forced into  competing with dozens of world class art museums in Paris as well as the spell Paris itself permanently blesses on the tourist. After a few days of visiting the sites of Paris with plenty of money to see the city and museums as well as a world class hotel to stay in for a few days Paris generates a smile for future years.

New York's jewel is the cloisters blessed by John D. Rockefeller who spent some of his world class Fortune to pick out a location on the Hudson River and spent money as no object to buy the medieval art and statues as well as the buildings to house the location,  collections and ambiance of antiquity.   Room after room will set the mood for visitors of the museum to go into the past of Europe to display the art in a serene and authentic environment. There is a serenity to the Cloister's rooms of fine art that slows guests down during their New York city visit.

Stand out behind the Cloisters and watch the Hudson River race by. American Indians used the Hudson to move about their country. Now the sub way  from New York city or taxi from  Harlem zips you to the Cloisters,

Visit the cloisters after you visit the metropolitan museum in downtown New York. The Cloisters are  my favorite location in America.

sometimes I wish I were born Russian [part 2]

sometimes I wish I were born Russian [ part 2]

fiction
edward w pritchard

A dozen years into the future from now there's these robots who are very intelligent and conniving and created by the Russian government to intervene with American society, politics, and institutions in a non violent but intrusive way.

Each robot looks and acts like a famous Russian writer or novelist and has one dictate from home in Moscow on how to behave  in America, " stay in character comrade".

Pictures below are the robotic representations of Gorky and Tolstoy working hard to stay in character.

fully tax the catholic church on all USA propertes they own

fully tax the catholic church on all USA properties they own

fiction

edward w pritchard

If I were President I would fully tax the catholic church and others on all the USA real estate properties they owned. Starting in twenty five years from the present. The money would be used appropriately to help the  downtrodden. For a twenty five year period the tax would not start provided the catholic church and other churches went back and re reviewed their position on each religious schism or scriptual controversy they fought and or murdred people over, that is those who they intellectually diagreed with. In addition all religious organizations in the USA must publically forgive John Rawls for his positions on all matters they disagreed with him overs by admitting that in matters of opinion both sides are partially right and wrong at the same time.

seventy first birthday

 seventy first birthday

fiction

edward w pritchard

About ten years  ago a noted local heart surgeon told my family gathered in my room at the hospital after a heart procedure and  a heart attack that I probably wouldn't make it till morning. Somehow I have survived nearly ten years and I credit my still being alive along with various pills daily to listening to blues music, three cans a night of beer and a proper outlook on the world., and walking around the world more than three times on the canal paths in the local area where I live.

Bessie Smith, Elmore James and Snooks Eaglin are my only friends anymore. Several times a week I converse with them as I listen to their philosophical thoughts expressed through music.

As you get older there is less to fret about. As an example in my case I don't care if I have a 4,000 square house properly remodeled and filled with more expensive furniture than I can sit on.

Most days I hope for a clear night to watch the evening sky, planets and stars as I walk and walk along the lake walking and walking to keep myself alive. That's about it really.  Excuse me it's time for me to go back to reading a few high brow books on various subjects, joyfully interacting with the grandchildren,  and spending many hours at the gym trying to extend my time as a sentient being.

Someone said " Life has no meaning , only the beauty of it's intricate design".

what ever else they said about Jesus

whatever else they said about Jesus

fiction

edward w pritchard

Whatever else they said about Jesus, Jesus never sent important information to his twelve disciples by email.

Jesus never had twelve way phone conversations either. Face to face conversations is how Jesus communicated, whether to twelve people or an entire sermon on a mount.

We should take a lesson from Jesus' communications style. No phone chats and no emails.

Face to face conversations in business and personal life is how Jesus handled his personal life and business life.

james Booker and Jesus part 2

Why would Jesus return to the earth for the second time as James Booker, the New Orleans piano prodigy? And why would Jesus return to the earth to full fill his prophesies of the second coming as a homo sexual drug addict? And why would the staff in the emergency room at the hospital in New Orleans refuse to treat James Booker when he was sitting in the hospital waiting to die of Kidney failure.

Was James Booker Jesus returned? Listen to James Booker's Oh Holy night rendition for clues. Do you need your Jesus to be perfect? Do you need your Jesus to be perfect, without sin,  and without human attributes and faults ?

Course I, me, don't really believe in any thing at all super natural. I said that because I just can't stand to hear about good old Jesus, who may not of even have been real suffering through a short life  like they said and ending up -for real on a cross and then dying and that was so final. So I made up that part about Jesus and James Booker both having been reborn and coming back to life. Both of them and us too are  just so lonely,

I can understand why folks would exaggerate a bit that about there's a better life a coming after we die. It's just for me I wish it were real in a proven scientific sense. So I won't say anything about was Jesus for real and all. And if I have to believe anything scientific provable about James Booker, I believe he did walk around sometimes when he was down and out looking for marijauna cigarettes on the ground like he earlier would sing at the piano when he played " King of the road." It's a provable scientific fact, us being so lonely and all believing in a fine  afterlife sometimes at 3 am in the morning.
