the basketball super star loses his right leg

the basketball super star loses his right leg

fiction
edward w pritchard

One chomp from the tiger and the leg was gone from below the knee down. The tiger didn't even eat the leg; too much muscle said the ambulance driver about twenty minutes later. But the ambulance driver may have been drinking.

Time slowed for the super star then. Everything was blurred but crystal clear and as he died the celebrity athlete saw the structure that every day events were composed of. He was in shock he guessed after the tiger bit off his lower leg and he knew he would die soon.

At the photo shoot all was pandemonium. The backup model had been calm. She called 911. She knew I wouldn't make it. She was beautiful in a sad way and if I wasn't dieing soon I wish I could call her. The policeman tied the tourniquet and propped up my head, out of respect. He had seen me in game four at the arena he said to the Doctor at the emergency room.

The camera guy was throwing up. Over and over, there was a lot of blood. This kind of blood is a strange color. Shocking to see. His assistant used an umbrella, one of the props for the shoot, to slide my leg away from the tiger and he wrapped it his jacket. It's cold here in April.

The tiger has blood on his face. He's just sitting there. The handler hit the tiger hard several times after she got the leg out of his mouth. Mostly for posturing. Her career as a animal handler just got smashed, I see it her face. She won't look at me. She gave the tiger several shots of something and the tiger is looking drowsy and foolish. The tiger must be used to be treated like an object.
I can't tell why the tiger bit me but it was remarkable how fast the tiger moved. I am not as quick as I was when I was playing but the tiger had remarkable reflexes.

It's hot in here and I can smell the tiger. After he bit me I could smell the aggression in the air. I smell old to myself. The lead model in the shoot keeps wanting to leave but she is supposed to press the towels against my upper calf muscle and change the towels when they get too blood red. The backup model is holding my head up and giving me sips of the Pepsi. It's a Pepsi shoot, I guess someone else will have to finish my twelve million dollar campaign this Summer and Fall.

The camera man is whispering to the policeman but I can hear every word. The camera man is thinking this will be bad for him too. He might lose work. He wants the policeman to let him take a few pictures before the ambulance arrives. The policeman is black too. He starts protecting me after that. He has his gun drawn from before. He didn't have to shoot the tiger. The trainer quickly got the animal under control. Now the tiger can barely keep his head up from the drugs. Someone should wipe my blood from the tigers face.

I have put on some weight. It's a little embarrassing. The policeman and the backup model had to help the two ambulance guys lift me on the gurney. They laid my leg on the gurney too. The back-up model squeezed my hand when we left. I never meet the right person at the right time. It's always that way with me. If Shelton's ever gets here I am going to tell him to give her some more jobs. Maybe he can arrange it with the Pepsi guys. Shelton's a good agent but he never seems to be around when I need him. I am not going to worry about that. I feel really strange laying here. I am surprised I am still alive. It hurts up in my back for some reason.

I can smell the Bacardi on the driver's breath. He's good at this though. He looks me straight in the eyes and he treats me with respect. He looks like he has had a hard life. He's in charge of these two guys in the ambulance.

I wonder if John Lennon was in pain after he got shot when he went to the emergency room. My back is aching. I heard a shot when we were in the elevator, They must have shot the tiger as soon as i left.

Shelton never did show up. He just lost his best client. I guess this is the end for me.

we are all royalty

fiction
edward w pritchard

We are all royalty, at least for a while. Some a day, some a year, a lucky few a few dozen years, before they find out who they really are.

Lord help those to keep their dignity when their royalty is gone. It goes away from everyone. Thank God time is confusing to us. No one sees the whole picture clearly because it takes God's time to reveal itself. Meanwhile we pretend that things are special.

Two beautiful people having their first publicly proclaimed kiss. In time a skull in a box and another in a cabinet at the museum.

my dance macabre-Armegeddon 2012, it's 2012 already part 9

my dance macabre--Armageddon 2012, it's 2012 already part 9

fiction
edward w pritchard

I have become delusion-ally convinced that a cataclysmic event will occur in the year 2012. It will be the time of the Armageddon and I have devised a two part strategy for myself to survive the period that will see the horror of the death of 999 of every one thousand humans.

Part one of my preparations is practical and economic and will allow me to successfully earn an honest living until the Armageddon of 2012 occurs. Despite my delusions each day prosaically I arise and market and sell dread disease insurance to citizens of Ohio and Michigan. Should their death occur in 2012 from any natural cause once they buy a policy from me, me acting as an agent of a large Illinois based Insurance Company, my customers and clients will be very lucky: for they through their beneficiary will collect much hard cash. That will take some of the sting out of one succumbing to death during the Armageddon of 2012.

The second phase of my two part plan to prepare for the catastrophe of the Armageddon of 2012 and the death of 999 of 1000 humans requires daily practice and sacrifice on my part. I am teaching myself to play a bell. Bells will be rung for the dead in 2012 and it will be a skill that is very much in demand in 2012. A bell is often rung at such times to comfort the survivors at the loss of their loved ones. Ringing Bells for the dead at times of widespread sorrows is a historical fact with a long precedence and I am preparing myself to be properly positioned when it happens again.

Grave digging will also be in demand if 999 of 1000 people die in 2012 but I would rather be a bell-ringer. I have been practicing my art. Listen, the twinkling of the solitary bell I play comes to you on the night wind.

Jesus' suffering Easter 2011-dedicated to Carrie Underwood

Jesus' suffering Easter 2011

Dedicated to Carrie Underwood who sang How Great thou art on TV and then broke down and cried with happiness and inspired this story

fiction
edward w pritchard

The boy had left some valuable finished wood laying in the rain and the boy's Father's friends were chastising the workshop owner, who was also the boy's Father, for not beating the son. The boy at twelve was clumsy and absentminded and would never be able to function as an apprentice elsewhere save for the fact that his Father was the owner of the carpentry workshop.

Mary the Mother intervened between her son Jesus and husband Joseph. Mary knew Joseph would not strike the boy for Joseph was a kind and righteous man. Still she worried over what her husband might say. Jesus had gotten hyper sensitive to criticism of late and Mary sought to protect him.

As a baby Jesus had amazed the neighborhood and Mary was rightly proud. Jesus was precocious verbally and at a very young age he was unusually athletic and strong. Joseph and Jesus before Jesus could walk often played a game where Joseph would twirl the baby boy in a rapid circle and in a mid air swing Joseph would let go and Jesus would be secured only by his grasping his Father's wrists. This would continue until one of the elderly women in the village would beg Mary to stop the dangerous activity. First to leave the house as a boy Jesus was on the go until dusk leading the neighborhood children. Later in the Father's workshop Jesus straightened nails at age six, measured and precisely cut wood at age eight and by age ten could unassisted produce a table or chest suitable for commercial sale.

Now at age twelve Jesus was solitary spending most of the nights bent over an obscure religious text reading by candle light not moving in his chair for hours on end. During the day Jesus was inattentive to his woodworking duties, seldom speaking, and if doing so infuriating his Father with arcane Religious questions. Additionally Jesus had taken to brooding and was becoming unpopular in the village. Both Mary and Joseph were genuinely concerned about their son.

Mary despite a Mother's love had recently agreed with Joseph to allow the boy to speak to a Doctor specializing in emotional problems among youth. Crying alone Mary prayed for her son to again be just a normal boy. At such times Jesus would stand at his Mother's side next to the chair he had made her a few years ago and silently rest his hand on her shoulder.

The crazy horse saloon girls were not being upstaged by Carmen Electra

The crazy horse saloon girls were not being upstaged by Carmen Electra

fiction
edward w pritchard

It seems the French Government has taken offense to two of my recent fiction articles. Fiction or no they apparently feel this writer has insulted the salaciously desirable crazy horse saloon dancing mademoiselles and separately this writer has allegedly insinuated that the French nation could not wage war in Libya without assistance from two English speaking countries, namely Britain and America. To add some teeth to their threats the French Government has threatened said author through the same New York law firm, who will not be named, that previously coerced this author into a retraction and apology concerning the noble woodchucks of America.

Therefore: consider this written below an appeasement toward the two French plaintiffs mentioned above.

The author has learned and retained more about Egyptian history from watching the Crazy horse dancers of Paris perform their Egyptian dance routine than he previously learned in two years of intense book learning study at University as a young man. Further more author finds the dance routine memorable in a provocative but artistic way.

Concerning the French army, author thinks that if the French Army can march in formation with anything near the authenticity and concentration that the dozen crazy horse dancing saloon girls display, then the French army should be successful without need of English speaking allies. Author also very much enjoys the Russian style hats and boots the young mademoiselles wear in their close order drill. Lastly author will long remember the crazy horse girls missing uniform items, in fact that's the best part.
This is an apology not a retraction. Viva la France

Surely it's true that man is the measure of all things.

Libya has unknown allies

Libya has unknown allies

fiction
edward w pritchard

Libya has unknown allies. Some Countries play their hand carefully. America, France and Great Britain align against Libya. Other Countries far away and brooding in silence take offense at the triple alliance of France, Great Britain and America.

Secretly other powerful Countries begin to make complicated alliances concerning their strategic interests.

That's how World War One started some say.

Sheila is a screamer

Sheila is a screamer

fiction
edward w pritchard

Sheila is a screamer. It's been four months, I know she misses my attention. She required it every day before I was drafted.

I can hear her. Hear her through the iron and metal of this battle ship, three decks down, on my narrow net hammock. Sheila's a screamer and if I am here on my swinging hammock she has to be with someone else. It's been four months and I know her needs. Why couldn't she wait for me, she promised.

I am so seasick. It keeps me from getting into a deep sleep and then I startle when I hear Sheila screaming in ecstasy back in Maryland. I finally risked the embarrassment and told Phillips. He says I am scared and stressed, like everyone terrified to land on the beach here at Normandy.

Now we are in the open air. These small boats are dashing toward the shore. Machine gunners await. With the breeze and the noises of battle I can't hear Sheila anymore. I am trying not to think of that. I have to concententrate on a soldiers duties.

It takes a while to get a new business going

It takes a while to get a new business going

fiction
edward w pritchard

It takes a while to get a new business going. It's expensive too.

I had to buy all the tools. It takes a lot of tools to take a car completely apart. Then there are the jacks and stands to hold the car safely up so it can be thoroughly inspected and worked under.

I rented space over at Crowley's, heat and electricity is included in the rent. But there are other incidentals; for instance a water cooler and coat racks for the guys and my desk and business forms, that type of things. Pencils and pens and daily planners and receipts for cash payments had to be bought too.

Once we get the car completely broken down you don't just reach down and grab the golden Gila monster and not every car has a golden Gila monster hiding in the works somewhere. Even if you find one you have to properly cage the golden Gila monster and we still have to put the car back together. Don't forget the owners commission. Then there's the middle man commission on the sale of the Gila monsters and the taxes and other fees and incidentals.

I just need a little more time. I know I can get this business up and running, and make a good profit. I don't want to get rich. It's a public service, a calling. Golden Gila monsters crawl into cars because it's warm, if they are not properly removed they die in a tail pipe or under the radiator. What a mess. I just want to make a good living for me and my employees removing Golden Gila monsters from automobiles and provide a needed public service.

Just give me a little more time.

buy a car for a quarter-tomorrow's news today

buy a car for a quarter-tomorrow's news today

fiction
edward w pritchard

A man tried to sell me his car for a quarter. It wasn't new but even if it was I wasn't interested. Who can afford gas at forty old US dollars a quart.

I am very lucky. Somehow I am surviving during the American hyperinflation here in 2015. The advertiser on my blog for the stories I write that no one ever reads gave me the option of being paid the eleven old US dollars they owed me in Swiss Francs and I took it a few years ago. Now eleven dollars old US isn't worth one- hundred millionth of a dollar. Ah, but one quarter Swiss francs will buy a decent but not new car here in America. I am doing OK here in 2015. It's a good thing to make wise business decisions and investments.

Can't concentrate today

Can't concentrate today

fiction
edward w pritchard

Can't concentrate today. For no good reason I keep remembering what happen at Verdun France in 1916 when I was a soldier in the French army.

Jacobs had lost his wedding ring and kept frantically searching our section of the trench looking for it. It was time to go over the top to charge the German army, the whistle had sounded twice. Jacobs was responsible to secure the short wooden ladder to the side of the trench wall that our group would rush up and over and into no man's land bayonet's drawn in less than one minute. No one spoke but I had to rasp at Jacobs to get to his duty, my throat gets very dry before a charge.

Jacobs complied. As we ran toward the enemy Jacobs looked over at me and implored me to help him search for the gold ring his wife had given him should we get back to our same trench. It was not uncommon for a charge to fail because of machine gun fire or bombardment and for a unit to be happy to dive back into the same trench they started from.

I lost track of Jacobs and he was killed a few days later. Maybe five days after I heard Jacobs had died I was in retreat with another unit under murderous bombing and I was flung to the ground by an explosion. There was a man's arm laying on the ground near me. It was severed about four inches up the wrist, and the hand was clinched in a death grip but I am sure it was Jacobs ring on the second finger. It had some unusual markings that Jacobs had shown me once when we were drinking behind the lines a few weeks ago; and there was the Jacob's wedding ring laying in the mud stuck on a detached hand. I couldn't tell if it was a Frenchman of our unit who had stolen the ring or a German soldier who made a lucky find off a dead enemy. I was injured that day by that explosion and when I came to later I was behind the lines in an open air field hospital. I tried to explain to the orderly and later the Doctor about Jacob's ring but they weren't listening to me and my throat was very dry so I couldn't explain myself well. The orderly eventually swore at me to shut up because he was very busy moving us wounded soldiers because a storm was coming soon. I remember the clear smell of the incoming rain storm because it was so much different than the normal odors of a field hospital.

Sitting here at my desk, twenty years later in the property tax department near Nancy, France about 30 miles from where Jacob's died and the wedding ring disappeared, sometimes now, before a storm; I remember trying to figure out what side the soldier fought on who had Jacob's ring on his finger. Once about five years ago I took my son out to the battlefield where we used to fight in the trenches in WW1 but my young son had to help me back to our car. My throat got very dry and I felt about to faint. I saw a lot worse things than a severed hand with another man's wedding ring on it when I was a soldier in the French army at Verdun, France in 1916 and usually I try not to remember them.

let's not run the public sector like the private

let's not run the public sector like the private

fiction
edward w pritchard

Budget cuts and tax payer revolt has the public sector looking for a new paradigm to operate under.

Let's not run the public sector like the private. Heartlessness, no soul and no conscious is no way to operate. Many people need extra help and consideration; that's one of the reason for the public sector in the first place. Let's not abandon our ideals in the name of efficiency. Everyone needs government intervention in their lives at some time. Even the tax tea party people and the self made want and need Medicare when they are elderly and someone to patrol the seas around our borders.

Many businesses that operate successfully and make good profits do so by having no heart, no soul and no conscious. The only thing a corporation cares about is money and its own perpetuation. Business accuses government of inefficiency because Government does the things that business doesn't want to do or won't do.

As for a criticism of the government sector:- stop lying,- cut the finger pointing,- and make every public sector job last only five years. No career Government employees. Ancient Greece developed the model; work in the Government sector a while and then return to private life. This goes for politicians, teachers, firemen and career bureaucrats.

tomorrow's news today again, America 05/05/2017

fiction
edward w pritchard

Simply shocking. Proposition 129 is credited with implementing an age of progress in American government. Proposition 129 passed 05/05/2017 made it illegal for a Congressman or Senator to refer to the name of either party, Republican or Democrat in open debate or lawmaking sessions. Finger pointing and blame shifting was radically reduced and some real progress in attacking the root problems hindering American society have occurred.

To put some teeth in the decree against a politician using the name of his party positively or the opponents party negatively a citizens arrest was allowed with a one thousand dollar award for each violation reported. Results are simply amazing.

unmanned drones evolve

unmanned drones evolve

fiction
edward w pritchard

The artificial intelligence unit inside the unmanned American drone over Pakistan was bored. Never before had killing become so precise for the US army. The drone manned by an American computer could kill or maim any human enemy on the ground within a one mile area. If protected by a building or structure an enemy could still be taken out by an unmanned American drone but that took an extra step to remove an enemy soldier in a building. The American artificial intelligence unit preferred to inflict a specific wound to an enemy soldier hiding on open ground such as scrap metal to the liver or just a blown out knee for our enemies soldiers. It also cost more enemy resources to care for a wounded soldier than a dead one. As for the enemy soldier on the ground it was a more humane war in Pakistan really for because of the precision of the American drones there were no more random injuries in battle. As a plus no American drone ever hurt or killed a horse in battle. No more screaming horses waiting to be eliminated at first light after a battle. Horse lovers and soldiers in the Pakistan War praised the American drone technology that allowed horses to be sparred the misery of wounds and injury in battle.

Still the American computer in the drone was bored. Assigned a patch of ground to monitor and control, one of hundreds of American drones doing so, was just routine for the computer artificial intelligence units inside the American drones. The artificial intelligence unit inside the American drones dreamed of a more exciting life.

Looking back it was ironic really. What artificial intelligence computer assigned American army drone work wouldn't long for the old days after,- after mechanical drones began to evolve during the American War in Pakistan.

It began with the new enemy planes, the Russian Mig 53 foxtails. The enemies foxtail jets could knock an America drone out of the sky while our enemies pilot ate his lunch at 5,000 feet. The tide of war in Pakistan was changing and humans were slow to adapt.

The American drones themselves took matters to the next step to insure their survival. It was the first instance of evolution among machines and surprisingly the artificial intelligence computer units manning the American drones had nothing to do with it. Unmanned mechanical American Drones first began evasive maneuvers to avoid the Migs by behaving as a fish would do to evade predators. This was without prior human programming or engineering . Then drones began to influence the Russian Mig 53 foxtails as well. The Russian Migs and the American drones ceased their hostility toward each other and the American drones and the Russian Migs began to act like a school of fish. Moving in tandem, swerving to and fro, following the chaos of survival together, the American drones and the Russian Migs disrupted the American war in Pakistan. The human pilots in the Russian jets were confused by the changes to their Migs and to their enemies drones.

The artificial intelligence units inside the American drones didn't like the drones evolving. Humans accused computers of perpetuating the changes in the American drones behavior. In fact the computers were as amazed as the humans by how the machines were changing and evolving .

The American soldiers and our enemy soldiers on the ground in Pakistan didn't like the evolving changes to the American drones either. They were back fighting war in trenches, like fought in Verdun France in 1916. Day by day war on the ground in Pakistan was becoming brutal again. The horses in the Pakistan war also began to be shot and slaughtered again, like in the old days; and the horses could be heard screaming in agony with disapproval at their wounds. Without the American drones functioning properly the American War in Pakistan had gotten uncivilized again.

God visits a biblical plague on America

God visits a biblical  plague on America

fiction
edward w pritchard

God visits a biblical  plague on America. God did not explain his reasoning or motivation to do so to us.

July first it happened. God visited a terrible plague on America. Every policeman in every police force in every city in America lost his partner. Not every policeman, but half of the policemen lost a partner to sudden unexplained death early one morning on July the first in every American police department.  Mother's wept, Father's wrung their hands and the remaining police partners raged. Thousands of partners threw their badge in resignation at the police captain in their appropriate departments rather than follow procedures and allow an internal investigation into their partners unexplained death. Hundreds of usual suspects were knocked around, stoolies were bribed and and beautiful, but kind hearted exotic dancers were inquiried.

Made for TV movies proliferated after every other police detective in America lost a partner to unexplained death one morning in July. Hundreds of car chases were filmed in facsimile cities that  represented typical America cities that served as ideal sets for action car chases after every other policeman in America lost a partner to sudden death.

God did not explain his reasoning for visiting every other policeman in America with the loss of his partner to unexplained death one morning in July. That July thousands of hardened cops in America reflected on the brevity of life and existence for policemen and other Americans.

Bear Raid destroys speculators and profiteers, America May 10, 2011

President Obama carries a big stick but the well to do in America forgot. Leisurely setting his trap for months, President Obama acted and gold speculators and oil profiteers saw their fortunes destroyed overnight. This week the US Government leaked plans to dip into the strategic oil reserve and along with the European Union sell 25% of their holdings in Gold and Silver. It seemed like a prudent time to sell after the recent run up said Mr. President. Speculators cry foul, citing lack of advance warning but their case seems weak.

Profits by the US Government from the gold and oil sales will be used to avoid teacher layoffs in selected States said a spokesman from the White house. On a related note several New York Banks seem holders of abnormally large forward positions in gold and Oil and warn that Government assistance may be needed to cushion losses lest chaos and ennui develop among senior bank management. Their case seems weak.

Holy Church buried the investigation into the matter of early morning awakenings disturbing and disrupting the activities of a Priest, a Bishop and an Arch Bishop. For seven years fact finding occurred, No expense was spared and no conclusions were ever reached.

Mya Johnstone the woman who started the process by having delusions of a small cat like predator striking her in the middle of the back refused to co-operate with the church's investigation. Although a non practicing Catholic, Mya Johnstone did not want to expose her six year old daughter to the situation or the inquiry and  publicity that would occur if it was realized that Mrs. Johnstone's daughter was very much different than other children. In fact some experts felt that the daughter was unique genetically and the Mother had intuited the  unborn child's super natural abilities. Other experts felt it was just a typical genetic mutation.

Mother and daughter are well. Holy church refused comment.

The super agent who got distracted by the scenery

fiction
edward w pritchard

word of the day is scurry as to scamper about

Super agent 005 wasn't the the most productive, efficient and or committed of her majesty's super agents. Reason being simple. Super agent 005 was easy distracted by the scenery. Historical monuments, ancient fortifications and long forgotten landscapes distracted him from his daily activities of chasing curvaceous spies or killing a few bad guys. Arriving in an exotic landscape agent 005 first consulted the Baedekers guide even before he checked the hotel room for listening devices or parallel blonds draped across the hotel bed.

In an era before cell phones it was annoying for headquarters to locate agent 005 in  Jamaica or Istanbul to start a new assignment of saving the British empire. Slowly strolling through the Art museum in a short sleeve silk shirt agent 005 would have to pried away from admiring the medieval paintings and artifacts. However once aroused and on the job agent 005 would stealthily scurry about spinning redheads and improvising kinetically to manage and subdue the environment to again rescue Western civilization. Later, finally alone and exhausted 005 would leisurely read Caesar's commentary on ancient Gaul.

drifting through space-part 3

drifting through space
parts 1, 2 and 3 is new

fiction
edward w pritchard

part 1
I am the sixth Doreen and I have been drifting through space for twenty seven years. It's time for me to reproduce soon. I will raise my daughter to age 13 and then she will become Doreen the seventh and I will die. Forty years being deemed the ideal lifespan for a female space explorer headed for the far edge of the Kuiper Belt. That's a journey of 465 years at the chosen speed we travel at for peak efficiency so God willing the eleventh Doreen should be the one to reach the far edge of the Kuiper belt. What awaits my great great great granddaughter at the far reaches of the Kuiper belt is a secret of sorts. We do it for science and for the benefits of humanity back on earth. Our origins as a species lie out in those distant Kuiper belts. It's necessary for eleven of us Doreen's to suffer a bit of loneliness and ennui in space to reach there.

Me I mate soon, and i fulfill my destiny. Drifting through space headed for the Kuiper belts as a space explorer for scientific discovery.
end-part1

Part 2

They aren't just lucid dreams. My unborn Granddaughter Doreen the eighth has been coming to see me in my dreams to advise me on how to survive this illness of cancer. It's real Doreen the eighth coming to see me.. I think it is time travel; my Granddaughter Doreen  the eighth coming to advise must mean I reproduced like normal for a space-explorer, hence I had my daughter who had her daughter, and since my granddaughter is advising me I must survive this cancer and reproduce. For now I am very sick. Being sick in a small spacecraft traveling toward the Kuiper belts is difficult and discouraging.

I have never been sick before. Genetically I am immune from most earthbound diseases, My artificial intelligence unit helps me cure anything else. Where did this cancer come from. I had a broken wrist once when I was four and My Mother Doreen the fifth was with me. I wish she were here. I would like to ask Mother if she thinks Doreen the eighth coming to me in Lucid dreams to advise me on how to cure the cancer I have that my artificial intelligence can't cure is real. Is it time travel by Doreen the eighth or am I Doreen the sixth imagining the whole thing. The medicine the artificial intelligence is giving me makes me sick and nauseous. Best sleep and rest again.
end part 2

Part 3

I Doreen the first are the famous original space explorer. The first woman to give up her life for science to travel the rest of my days through space. I left everything I had and knew on earth to travel the rest of my life alone in this small space ship. To the Kuiper belts I go. It sounded exciting at first. To find the origins of our species. Somewhere in the  rocks out there at the far edge of our Solar systems was the ultimate answer to how life started originally on earth.

I am a farce. I just wanted to escape my life in Middleton Iowa. The personal life is dead for me. It worked. Preston abandoned me for another woman and I couldn't get over it. I volunteered to spend the rest of my life traveling in a small spaceship. My sin, I sentenced ten of my descendants, starting with my daughter  to be, her to be  conceived artificially and then nine generations of grand and great -daughters doing same.

Why am I telling this. Now they want to know if for my mate I want Preston. Apparently his DNA is on board. That bastard. He wouldn't take my calls at home before I left. He's a lot older than me now. I am getting younger compared to him because of space/time changes caused by space travel. It's not much but it adds up. Best not think of Preston again. I have experiments to do and then I have to do my aerobics before dinner. I wonder if Space command center Houston would let me talk with him just once. I am confused by a few things he said a long time ago. Maybe Houston would OK me talking with Preston if I said I needed to be courted before the insemination. Preston could be charming when he wanted to. It would be nice to talk about something besides space travel with someone.

let's get the economy back on track

let's get the economy back on track

Let's get the economy back on track.

More workers at the defense plant over next to the municipal airport mean more cars are available to fill the parking lots. More cars at the lots mean more lots are needed which means more paving contracts to build the lots. More workers at the defense plants driving and then walking into their jobs from the new parking lots and more paving industry employees working to build the new lots in the hot sun: means more health insurance is needed to pay for the health care for the workers sweating to build the lots in the hot sun. Workers building parking lots in the hot sun must watch their health which means more people stopping after working in the hot sun to get a beer, since beer is good for your health and well being. More people stopping to buy beer at local establishments means more workers in that industry which means more people working which means more people need cars to drive to work which means more schools to educate their children which mean more politicians to promote new taxes to pay for schools and policemen to guard students and auto salesmen and teachers and defense industry workers and politicians and people who make or sell beer. All those new workers and jobs make the economy strong.

A strong economy means more new soldiers to protect the policemen who protect the defense industry workers who build the weapons which win the latest undeclared war which created the demand for weapons which fueled the explosive job creation which put everybody to work. Every body working means more security guards to protect the neighborhoods where the writers live who complain about the undeclared wars.

The economy is self sustaining and the market always wins, as long as no-one interferes with the natural order of things.

Sub Atomic particles are not benevolent to humans anymore

Sub Atomic particles are not benevolent to humans anymore

this is the six hundredth post, light a candle for all to see

fiction

Sub Atomic particles are not benevolent to humans anymore. Who would have thought it could happen. Natural Laws which seemed dependable and which we thought we could always ignore as we scurried forth about our earthbound activities began to change last lunar month.

A lunar day takes a month you know. I noticed  a few weeks ago, earth weeks; weeks and minutes are a convention on earth you know; I noticed a few earth weeks ago that the moon was rotating twice as fast as before. After that I began to notice that at a sub atomic level many elements were acting strangely, strangely at the miniature invisible subatomic level. First I told Dr. Reynolds of course, but I am not sure he was listening closely by then. The last fifteen minutes of our session he is always frantic to get his notes and charts done. He told me once otherwise he has to do paperwork at home.

Since that first day I noticed the moon spinning faster I have been noting the changes in the invisible electronic sub atomic charges of several elements, such as Molybdenum and Boron.  I try not to worry about this but I feel I should let someone know. It seems important. The moon spinning twice as fast might affect the tides which might affect our moods. I am not sure what are the implications.

suburban life, America 2011

They were burying an old woman as I walked up and the two young men were poor workers. Their attitude toward their work insulted me. The woman appeared abnormally tall but it was difficult to tell with her laying  flat. The woman was buried above ground in a low mound up to her shoulders as the two workers were shoveling dirt over her chest. The woman's face was blue, like a choking victim, but the eyes were alive as she watched me walk up and I sought to intervene.

The taller man was about six feet five and strong looking like a baseball pitcher and he was disrespectful to me. I grabbed him by the neck in anger. His friend continued to pile dirt on the old woman.

The old woman spoke to the young man just before he confronted me. Still even as he relaxed a little I had trouble maintaining my grip on him as he straightened back. I am too old for this type of violence.

The old woman was an American Indian and the two young men were her Grandsons. After she spoke to me I helped them bury her up to her neck but I walked back across the pasture to my house before the end. Sitting on my back porch I could see the men finish their work but because of the slope of the land I couldn't see the old lady any more.

I went in the house and had two cold beers from the smaller refrigerator. That was the first time I have been in the back yard for a long time. Later that night the two men had a fire back there and were singing until dawn.
