Moore on marketing
fiction

In town, here in humble Hartville, there is a small business that has carved a niche in the competitive coffee business. True, they make a good cup of coffee and it is a pleasant shop to stop in, but they are no Starbucks. Customers do not line up in the drive through line five deep in expensive SUV's for fifteen minutes every morning to buy a very expensive cup of coffee at our local coffee shop.
Our local coffee shop's claim to fame is the most innovative marketing idea in the coffee business. The business is "Moore than coffee" and it is owned by the Moore family. "Moore than coffee", two oo's in Moore is quite a memorable slogan. Excellent marketing, they should get an award.
Starbucks does not have a slogan, although they do have a distinctive, and kinda cool logo, it's the green circle with a picture of a girl, or is it a mermaid in it's center. I am sure it has won many awards.
Hartville, Ohio was originally founded by the American Indians. They owned all these parts. Local Indian tribes moved between what is now Hartville, and Canton on route 43 when going to Myers Lake in Canton or to Congress lake just north of Hartville. Although I have no evidence, I assume that American Indian tribes who lived around Hartville from the sixteenth to early nineteenth century had a pleasant life. Maybe they drank good coffee occasionally.
Settlers in the nineteenth century worked hard to develop Canton and Stark County following the treaty of Fort Industry July 04, 1805 between local Indian tribes and the American government. Few traditional American Indians around Hartville anymore.
What do American Indians have to do with the coffee business in Hartville, Ohio? Nothing, but who comes first be it an idea or possession of anything does not necessarily keep their early lead. Everything changes.
As of today, I don't see a Starbucks in Hartville, but there is a very busy Starbucks just down the road at Washington Square across from Walsh University.
Me I don't drink coffee and I always route for the Indians, that is the native Americans.
The bottom line, get to Moore than coffee if in the area of Hartville, Ohio for a good, pleasant cup of coffee.
