the farm pond
fiction
Edward w Pritchard
Behind the barn at the rear of the property lays the farm pond covered in a slick green slimy algae. For months and years the algae covers and hides the farm pond.
Once in an awhile a mysterious breeze arises and the farm pond is transformed. The wind drives the algae to one side and only half the pond is covered, out of sight, hidden.
As the wind blows the other half of the farm pond is clear reflecting the cloudy sky, swooping birds and swaying trees. Around the pond are visible cat tails bobbing in the breeze and behind the pond twenty foot high sea grass sway in the gusting winds.
Blow wind, blow winds transform the farm pond; clear away the blur of the past and mists of the future and allow the tranquil surface to reflect today the entire majesty and translucent glory of God's creation.
