The Buddha's Brother

The Buddha's Brother

fiction
edward w Pritchard

Buddha was 26 years old, and it was a few days after he had left his Father's castle, which was his home, and incidentally, was where he had also left behind his beloved wife and son for what was to be a six year sojourn, and his Brother had caught up with Buddha on the road and had a serious talk with him.

The Brother, listened to Buddha's plans and concerns, gave Buddha much practical wisdom and advice, and advised the Buddha to go home, have a good glass of wine and forget this nonsense.

Six years later, after Buddha had his enlightenment, Buddha's brother again listened to his Brother, the Buddha, give his 4, 6, 8, and twelve, part observations concerning becoming, awakening and the meaning of life, and after the Brother heard all the wisdom, the brother advised the Buddha to quit looking behind the curtain of life and return to his duties and obligations.
