let me die on a rainy day

let me die on a rainy day

fiction
edward w pritchard

Let me die on a rainy day
away from busy people bustling to and fro.
Before I go I need to check the oil in our daughter's car,
I'll send in all of next months bills,
drain the sledge water from the water heater,
and finish the short story I been working on
about the first time I saw you over at the Lake.
Let me die on a rainy day;
otherwise it would be a sad time to pass away,
Do you remember it was raining the first time I saw you there at the lake.
